These past few weeks of changing seasons and fall colors popping up around every turn in Colorado have really made me think a lot about the world we live in. We live in a world that is full of pictures and anyone can be a photographer. Take for example any aspen grove in this state in the past two weeks - no matter what day of the week it is, you are bound to find at least a few people there taking photos. More popular places like Kebler Pass, Kenosha Pass, and Maroon Bells in Aspen are absolutely swamped with people during every daylight hour during this season. And for good reason - its freaking beautiful!

I went with a friend to hike and check out the colors last week and we overheard a few photographers complaining about all the people and how "everyone is a photographer these days". That didn't sit too well with me because what's wrong with that? Whats wrong with people wanting to document and share their lives through photography. We have access to so many means of taking photos these days between phones and affordable cameras so why not use them? Maybe it hurt their ego as a "professional" to see so many people in the same spot trying to get the same shot as them, when in reality they really shouldn't care. If you love photography so much that you made it your profession, shouldn't you want to share that same joy with others?

Much of our lives are centered around social media and most of social media includes sharing photos. And even if not for social media, saving these pictures to look back on years later is so special. 100 years ago people would only be able to write a journal entry explaining a picture in words or spends hours, even days, painting one single picture to remember. Both of those media types are still great, but its so special that in today's world were all able to be photographers. People want to get the best photos possible to share about their lives and whether that comes from your phone camera or through hiring a professional is up to you!
